What is Developmental Psychology

 Developmental Psychology :

  Developmental psychology is the branch of psychology which objective is to explaining humans growth and change in lifetime’s process. It looks at how person’s thinking, feeling and behavior change through all the life.

Developmental domains:

There are 3 developmental domains 

1: Social emotional domain:

In this domain by the analyzing of reoccur event human's personality is developed.

Ex: managing emotions and establishing ethics and relations.

2: Cognitive domain: 

Related to thinking process.

Related to intramural mental processes 

Ex: reasoning ability, problem solving, imagination ability and language etc.

3: Physical domain:

Related to body(growth) genetics.

Ex: body weight, height and motor skills like jumping, picking something and running.

Developmental psychology issues:

1: Nature Vs Nurture: 

In this issue development depend on environmental or biotic factors.

2: Continuity Vs Discontinuity:

According to continuity development is continuing process that is slow and accumulating.

Discontinuity refers to a step by step development in specific age life periods called stages.

3: Stability Vs Change:

In stability our personality traits are firm/ strong over time.

Change refers that our personality traits are alter when we interacts with people.

Periods of Developmental psychology

1:Prenatal period( conception to birth) 

2: Infancy(birth to 24 months)

3:Early Childhood( 3 to 5 years) 

4:Middle and late childhood (6/10/11 years)

5:Early adulthood(20s and 30s)

6: Middle adulthood(40s and 50s)

7:Late adulthood(60s to 70s) 

8: Adolescence adulthood( 10/12s /18s to 21 years).
